You probably know the feeling—your white and black laundry has turned dull. Colors just don’t pop like they did when your clothes were new. Over time, your clothes naturally lose their brightness, but you can slow this down by using detergent or laundry sheets made especially for black or white loads.
Why does laundry turn dull?
After every wash, the fibers in your clothes fall apart and get damaged. Dirt sticks more easily to these fibers because they become rough. This creates an extra layer, making your laundry look dull. Cellulase is an enzyme that can effectively target and remove these particles. This makes the fibers "smoother" again and helps colors pop like new.
Another type of cellulase protects the colors. Here too, colored cotton fabrics can become dull and grayish. The fibers and the dirt that sticks to them mask the brightness of the colors.
Our laundry strips for whites contain 2 types of cellulase and a small amount of optical brightener to keep your laundry white, colored, or black for longer.
This is not included in our universal laundry detergent strips.
Aren't your universal strips enough then?
Another reason for dullness is the use of harsh chemicals. Since our formula is gentle and plant-based, you’ll notice way less dullness from these kinds of chemicals. That’s why we call them universal laundry strips.
But because there are several ways to protect colors, we've added these options to our laundry strips specifically for whites and darks. That's why the laundry strips for whites and blacks are better at keeping your clothes bright white or deep black for longer.
Allergies
Some people are allergic to optical brighteners, so we recommend our universal strips or our hypoallergenic fragrance-free option.
What's the difference between the laundry strips for black/white and the color boosters for black/white?
The color boosters don't dissolve completely. They have one job: to transfer black or blue color to your laundry. White color boosters contain more optical brighteners than the laundry strips. With the color boosters, you not only keep your colors vibrant for longer, but you also boost them. Whites get whiter, blacks get blacker, and blues get bluer.
Since we have our own laundry strip production machines, we know exactly how to replicate lab formulations during the mixing, homogenizing, and drying processes.
Hopefully this gives you more insight into how color protection works and that it's not just a "marketing tactic." We're always working to improve our formulas. in our own local lab in the Netherlands.
