Having trouble getting yellow stains out of white clothes? You’re not alone. If you wear a white shirt, for example, it’s easy to get yellow stains around the collar or underarms. We’re sharing a method that really works, so you can say goodbye to those stains for good! white laundry detergent sheets and color boosters Easy to use. Find out how to make your white clothes bright again and keep them looking great for longer!

How do I get yellow stains on my white clothes?

Why are there yellow stains on my white clothes? This could be caused by 4 things:

  1. Sweat and deodorant

The most common culprits for yellow stains are sweat and deodorants. Sweat itself is colorless, but the chemical reaction between sweat and the aluminum compounds in many deodorants often causes yellow stains. These stains are especially visible in the underarm areas of shirts and blouses.

  1. Body oils and fats

Besides sweat, natural oils and fats from your skin can also contribute to the formation of yellow stains. These substances can build up in the fabric and cause discoloration over time.

  1. Long-lasting storage

Sometimes yellow stains appear when white clothes are stored for too long without being cleaned in between. Fabrics like linen and cotton can turn yellow if they aren't washed regularly and stored properly.

  1. Chemical reactions with bleaches

Ironically, some attempts to make clothes whiter can actually cause stains. Using bleach incorrectly or mixing it with other chemicals in detergents can lead to yellow spots.

How do you avoid yellow stains?

Prevention is better than cure, especially when it comes to yellow stains on white clothes. Here are some simple tips to keep your white shirts looking bright and fresh:

Choose the right deodorant

Avoid deodorants that contain aluminum. These can cause yellow stains when they react with sweat. Look for brands that specifically state they don't leave yellow marks.

Wash white clothes right after wearing

Don't let sweat and dirt set in. By washing your white clothes quickly, you greatly reduce the chance of permanent stains.

Use stain remover

Treat areas like armpits and collars with a stain remover before putting your clothes in the washing machine. This way, you make sure no stains can develop there.

Don't dry clothes in direct sunlight

While sunlight can naturally bleach clothes, it can sometimes also cause white fabrics to yellow. It's better to dry your white clothes in the shade or indoors.

Treating yellow stains

If you're dealing with yellow stains on your white clothes, just follow these steps with the white laundry detergent sheets and a color booster.

Step 1: Pre-treatment

Before you start the washing machine, pre-treat the yellow stains. Make a paste from a small piece of white laundry detergent sheet and a little water. Apply this paste directly to the stain. Let it sit for about 30 minutes to help loosen the stains.

Step 2: How to use white laundry detergent sheets

Put your white clothes in the washing machine and add a laundry detergent sheet made especially for whites, depending on how much laundry you have and how dirty it is. These laundry detergent sheets are specially designed to get your whites sparkling clean and also help remove yellow stains.

Step 3: Use of the color booster

For extra whiteness, you can add a color booster to your laundry. These boosters are specially made to restore the brightness of your white clothes and prevent new discoloration. Place a color booster sheet in the drum with your laundry for the best results.

Step 4: Wash at the right temperature

Wash your clothes at the recommended temperature, usually between 40°C and 60°C, to make sure all traces of stain removers and yellow stains are thoroughly washed out.

Extra tips

Besides using white laundry detergent sheets and color boosters, here are a few extra tips to help keep your white clothes looking bright:

Pre-treat: Always pre-treat stains. Applying a little liquid detergent or a paste of water and washing powder directly to the stain can work wonders.

Sorting the laundry: Always wash white clothes separately from colored clothes to prevent discoloration.

Regular washing: Even if your white clothes don't look dirty, washing them regularly helps prevent yellowing in the long run.

Natural bleaching: Every now and then, you can soak white clothes in a mix of water and a bit of lemon juice or baking soda before washing them. This acts as a natural bleach and freshens up the fabric.

Drying in the sun: Drying white clothes in direct sunlight can help bleach stains and freshen up your clothes.

By regularly taking care of your whites, you can enjoy brilliantly white clothes for much longer. Our white laundry detergent sheets and color boosters offer a great solution for those stubborn yellow stains. Don't forget, it's best to avoid yellow stains and treat them properly.
