How to get the best wash with laundry sheets?

Hoe was je het beste met wasstrips?

Large plastic bottles with liquid detergent quickly take up all the space in your laundry room. In addition, the heavy bottles and boxes cause a lot of transport, making it not a sustainable option for washing your clothes. But it can be different - with laundry sheets!

Large plastic bottles of liquid detergent quickly take up all the space in your laundry room. Additionally, the heavy bottles and boxes cause a lot of transport, making it an unsustainable option for washing your clothes. But there is another way - with laundry sheets! This is detergent as you know it, but in paper form.

These sheets have removed unnecessary liquid, leaving you with a highly concentrated detergent that fully dissolves in water. (Even in cold water!) You can say goodbye to large amounts of plastic, chemicals, and expensive pods, and instead only need a flat, cardboard box of sustainable laundry sheets at home. But how do you get the best wash with these sheets?

Washing with a washing machine

It may seem very different from what you're used to - a sheet instead of a cap full of liquid - but it actually works exactly the same.
You want to place half or a whole sheet of the laundry sheet in the drum with your clothes, or in the drawer. Half a sheet is enough for a small load (5kg). If you have a larger load (10kg), very dirty clothes, or hard water, choose a whole sheet. The sheet has a handy tear line in the middle so you can easily halve it.

During washing, the sheet will fully dissolve in the water and clean your laundry as you expect!

What should you watch out for?

  • Make sure your drum is not too full so the laundry sheet has enough space to dissolve
  • Do not place the sheet between your clothes to prevent it from getting stuck somewhere
  • Do not leave your laundry wet for too long to keep it smelling fresh
  • The sheets contain no chlorine bleach, so keep this in mind for your whites

Hand washing
You might not think so immediately, but laundry sheets are also very suitable for hand washing! Fill your bucket or sink with warm water and throw half a laundry sheet into the water and watch it dissolve. Stir the water first to distribute the detergent evenly, then wash your clothes as usual. The laundry sheets are 100% biodegradable and hypoallergenic, so they are not harmful to your skin!

Travelling with laundry sheets
Because the sheets contain no liquid, they are ideal to take on trips. They are super compact and can easily go in your hand luggage during a flight. This way, you can wash on holiday with your trusted detergent - regardless of the washing method available to you. Hard or soft water, warm or cold, washing machine or hand wash, it all works with the sheets!

Storage
The laundry sheets come in a cardboard box, but this does not seal 100%. If the sheets are stored in a humid environment or if you want to preserve the scent best, store the sheets in an airtight, scent-proof container.

Extra tips
  • The sheets are also suitable for silk and wool, so no worries there!
  • Due to the mild formula, the scent might be less strong than you're used to - use
another sheet for extra fragrance or choose Cosmeau's sustainable scent booster!
