On Sunday, March 30th, Cosmeau officially opened its very first physical store in the heart of Haarlem, located at Grote Houtstraat 47, right across from Kruidvat and next to JD. Cosmeau, known for its eco-friendly household products and sustainable cosmetics, is the first sustainable concept on a prime A1 location.
At 12:00 PM, the doors opened and there were already over fifty excited customers waiting in line, including visitors from Alkmaar, Sliedrecht, and Alphen aan den Rijn. The very first visitor was even ready at 11 AM to make sure they didn’t miss a thing from the opening. The first 100 customers received a well-stocked goodie bag.
"Over the past few months, we've taken everyone along on this adventure by sharing the whole process online," says Jason Wen, founder and CEO of Cosmeau. "It's amazing that so many people from all over the country came to celebrate the opening with us. I'm incredibly proud of our team for organizing this so fantastically."
The new store has an open, bright, and fresh look, with an interior designed to let visitors experience the products by smelling, feeling, and testing them. "We deliberately chose light colors and soft pastel shades, so our colorful products really stand out."
Sustainability was also a key focus in the design: the store uses recycled linoleum for the floors, mats, and product islands.
Cosmeau stands for innovative, sustainable quality products at affordable prices. "With this physical store, we want to give customers personal advice and introduce them to new sustainable alternatives like laundry detergent sheets, scent boosters, and cleaning tablets," says Wen.
Within Cosmeau, there's also a special Bamboozy shop-in-shop focused on sustainable menstrual products, with the mission to break taboos around menstruation. "This is the first physical location where you can see and try out Bamboozy products. We want to inform people of all ages about sustainable alternatives, so they can make conscious choices."
Cosmeau’s bigger mission is to achieve local production in the Netherlands and create a positive social impact. "We’re one of the few brands actively investing in our own production. Our shampoo bars and conditioners are already made in our own factory, and this year we’ll probably start with scent boosters. Our goal is to produce all our products in the Netherlands within five years. On top of that, we want to strengthen our social role by actively working with food banks, starting locally and then expanding nationally."
