Dish Soap Refill

With an 8/10 and an A- label this is a strongly environmentally friendly dish soap, especially thanks to the natural fragrance and biodegradable ingredients. Points for improvement: 🌱 Small adjustments, such as an even milder alternative for AOS, can bring it to a 9 or A+.

Contains no phosphates, parabens or harmful preservatives.

Dish Soap Ingredients
Carboxyethyl cellulose, sodium ethylenesulphonate AOS, citric acid, Betaine, fragrance.

Carboxyethyl Cellulose (CEC)

• Function: Thickening agent and stabilizer.
• Origin: Derived from cellulose (natural polymer from wood pulp or cotton).
• Environmental impact: Biodegradable and non-toxic.
  

Sodium Ethylenesulphonate AOS (Sodium Alpha-Olefin Sulfonate, AOS)

• Function: Surfactant (cleaner and foam enhancer).
• Origin: Plant-based oils (coconut oil)
• Environmental impact:
  • Biodegradable, but degradation can be slow under certain conditions.
  • Potentially irritating to aquatic organisms at high concentrations.

Citric Acid

• Function: pH regulator and water softener.
• Origin: Natural, produced through fermentation of sugars.
• Environmental impact: Biodegradable and safe for the environment.
  

Betaine (Cocamidopropyl Betaine or another form of betaine)

• Function: Mild surfactant, foam booster and skin care agent.
• Origin: Plant-based (derived from sugar beets or coconut oil).
• Environmental impact: Biodegradable, but some variants may contain small amounts of impurities that are less environmentally friendly.
  

Fragrance

• Function: Fragrance.
• Origin: Natural.
• Environmental impact: Natural fragrances (such as essential oils) are biodegradable.
