How do you wash best with laundry sheets?

Large plastic bottles of liquid detergent quickly take up all the space in your laundry room. The heavy bottles and boxes also mean a lot of transport, which makes them a less lasting option for washing your clothes. But it can also be different, with laundry sheets! This is detergent as you know it, but in paper form.

These sheets have left out the unnecessary liquid, so you are left with a high concentration of detergent that fully dissolves in water. (In cold water too!) You can say goodbye to large amounts of plastic, chemical products, and expensive pods, and instead only need a flat cardboard box of lasting laundry sheets in your home. But how do you wash best with these sheets?

Washing with a washing machine

It may seem very different from what you are used to, a piece of paper instead of a cap of liquid, but it actually works exactly the same.
You want half or a whole sheet of the laundry sheet in the drum on your clothes, or in the drawer. Half a sheet is already enough for a small load (5kg). Do you have more laundry (10kg), is it very dirty, or is there hard water? Then choose a whole one. The sheet has a handy tear line in the middle so you can easily halve it.

During the wash the sheet will fully dissolve in the water and clean your laundry as you know it!

What should you watch out for?

  • Make sure your drum is not too full, so the laundry sheet has enough space to dissolve
  • Don't put the sheet between your clothes, to prevent it getting stuck somewhere
  • Don't leave your laundry lying wet for too long, so it keeps smelling fresh
  • There is no chlorine bleach in the sheets, keep that in mind with your whites

Hand wash
You might not think it right away, but the laundry sheets are also very suitable for a hand wash! Fill your bucket or sink with warm water and throw half a laundry sheet into the water and see how it dissolves. First stir through the water so all the detergent is well distributed, then wash your clothes as you are used to. The laundry sheets are 100% biodegradable and hypoallergenic and therefore not harmful to your skin!

Traveling with laundry sheets
Because the sheets contain no liquid, they are ideal to take on a trip. They are super compact and can go in your hand luggage on a flight. That way you can also wash on holiday with your familiar detergent, regardless of which way of washing you have available. Hard or soft water, warm or cold, washing machine or hand wash, it can all be done with the sheets!

Storage
The laundry sheets come in a cardboard box, but this does not close 100%. If the sheets sit in a humid environment or if you want to keep the scent best, store the sheets in a scent-tight, sealable box.

Extra tips
  • The sheets are also suitable for silk and wool, so you don't have to worry about that!
  • Because of the mild formula the scent may be a little less strong than you are used to, use
another sheet for extra scent or choose Cosmeau's lasting fragrance booster!
