Laundry sheets are known for not having as strong a scent as traditional detergent. Why is that exactly?
This has to do with laundry sheets consisting of highly concentrated detergent. That way we can pack more cleaning product in a smaller and lighter form. The downside is that this also means less surface and weight for scent to attach in and to.
For example, a wash pod weighs about 20 grams, a laundry sheet only 3-4 grams. We can therefore store almost 5x less scent than traditional detergent. It is therefore impossible to enjoy all the benefits of laundry sheets being so light and small, and also match the scent intensity of a wash pod.
Can we not just add more scent?
Yes and no. We can raise the percentage but this in turn affects the composition and other ingredients. In addition, the number of people who can expect an allergic reaction increases if perfume is raised.
What are possible solutions?
In the very latest formula we have adjusted the percentages so it leaves a bit more scent without a large group getting allergic reactions. These have been available since October 2023. Laundry sheets are known for the fact that even if you get an allergic reaction from traditional detergent, that is not the case with laundry sheets.
- Use wasparfum or scent pearls. Use a few drops of wasparfum, fabric softener, or our scent pearls. That way you can set your own scent intensity.
- Wait until your laundry is dry, and rub your clothes against each other. Another point with laundry sheets is that straight after washing, while the laundry is still wet, you will not smell any scent. The scent appears subtly once the laundry is dry and you rub it against each other. That way you have long-lasting scent while walking, running, and moving.
- Dose via the detergent drawer. It may be that your laundry sheet does not dissolve well. Dose via the drawer so you can be sure all ingredients become active.
- Use an extra (half) sheet. Add half a sheet or a whole sheet for a large wash. Do not use more than 2 sheets because the action will then be less. Make sure you keep at least a fist between your laundry and the top of the drum.
- Take your laundry out of the drum as soon as it is done and wash at a less high temperature and raise your spin to 1000+rpm. If you leave your laundry in the drum too long it will go musty. This also applies if your laundry takes too long to dry. Then raise the spin so your laundry comes out of the washing machine drier. Perfumes have their own "flash point", this means they are less effective or not effective after a certain temperature. Wash between 30-60 degrees for optimal scent retention.
