1. Wash Right Away
The easiest tip out there: wash your sweaty clothes as soon as possible after wearing them. The longer you wait, the more time sweat has to settle into the fabric. Use detergent and a fabric softener or scent boosters to fight odors.
2. Using Vinegar
Add a cup of white vinegar to your cycle. Vinegar is an excellent natural deodorizer. For stubborn odors, you can soak your clothes in a solution of water and vinegar (1:1) for an hour before washing.
3. Lemon juice
Lemon juice is also great for neutralizing odors and removing sweat stains. Mix lemon juice with an equal amount of water and rub it onto the sweat spots before washing your clothes.
4. Baking Soda
Baking soda is also super effective at neutralizing odors. Just sprinkle some baking soda directly onto the sweaty spots. Let it sit overnight before washing your clothes. You can also add half a cup of baking soda to your wash cycle for extra odor-busting power.
5. Using Special Detergents
There are laundry detergents on the market that are specially developed to remove sweat odors. These contain enzymes that break down bacteria and odor molecules.
6. Treat with Vodka
Did you read that right? Yes! Sweat is caused by bacteria. Vodka kills them. odor-causing bacteria. For example, fill a spray bottle with unscented vodka and spray it directly onto the sweat stain. Let it dry and wash your laundry as usual.
7. Air and Dry Directly in the Sun
Hang your clothes outside to dry right after washing. The fresh air and direct sunlight help get rid of odors and make any musty smells disappear. This is also one of the best ways to freshen up laundry if you just can't seem to get rid of that stubborn musty scent.
8. Repeat the Treatment
For stubborn odors, you might need to repeat the steps above a few times. As long as the smell is fading, you’re on the right track. So don’t give up if the odor doesn’t disappear right away!
